Terrific YouTube Channel for Arts Teachers

February, 2015
In todays post, I am sharing with you this cool YouTube channel titled ShooRayner Drawing. This channel provides a variety of instructional videos to help students and kids (and anyone else interested in drawing) learn to draw better. Videos are created by artist and childrens book author and illustrator Shoo Rayner. I have spent sometime sifting through some of these drawing videos and found them really interesting. You could probably use these videos with your own students to teach them how to draw different things. Most importantly, the videos provide kids a very solid starting basis into the concept of drawing which will, once mastered, enable them to create gorgeous drawings of  anything they want.

There is also a section for artists and advanced creators where Rayner shares interesting pieces of advice about drawing and being a creative person. Here is a sample of Rayner's work. This is a video explanation on how to draw cartoon style people.

A Wonderful YouTube Channel for Teachers and Students

October 12, 2014
Today I am sharing with you one of my favourite YouTube channels that covers topics pertaining to  various disciplines and subject matters with a focus on world history. And though I am not a history teacher, I really find these videos interestingly insightful and intellectually stimulating. Today while I was watching the Origin of Life  it dawned on me to write a quick post and share this video resource with you. History teachers ( and other teachers as well)  will definitely find in it tons of video materials and educational content to use with their students.

In Crash Course  brothers John Green and Hanks Green teach courses in quick 10 to 15 minutes episodes. John is teaching American history, world history and some literature while Green is teaching biology, ecology, and general chemistry. All of the videos are designed specifically for students and teachers and are meant to help students enhance their learning in such a fun and entertaining way.

The video content in this YouTube channel is organized into the following categories : big history, world history 2, psychology, literature, chemistry, US history, ecology, world history, and biology. Browsing any of these categories you will find a number of clips and video materials to use with students. Check them out.
